The Fairport Purse & Clutch

Hi! Today I am joining the 2nd Birthday Celebration Blog Tour of Radiant Home Studio
I first "met" Sara Curtis about two years ago, when I was trying my chance at the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway, an online event when several bloggers and designers run small giveaways on their own blogs. I didn't won Sara's pattern then but I got the most lovely email from her. We have been following each other since then and it is always a pleasure to sew her great patterns. I have made the Retro Rucksack here and I am eager to make these adorable house shaped cushions

Some time ago Sara sent me her newly released pattern (at the time) - the Fairport Purse & Pouch. I think it was really earlier this year. The first half of the year is always very, very busy and I didn't found the time to sew it up until July. You may have already seen it because I shared it on Instagram then, here. But I never got the chance to blog about it. So, when Sara invited me to join this celebration it was a no brainer. :) I would finally have a deadline to blog my Fairport clutch! I am the worst when it comes to not having a deadline to make something... (Dear Sara, again I sorry that it took me sooo long to sew this up and blog about it!)

Fairport Purse & Pouch, pattern by Radiant Home studio. You can find it on her shop. All patterns are 20% off through Dec 11th, with code "birthdaycelebration"!

I used a denim-linen blend (purchased at my local fabric store, Feira dos Tecidos) and a Cotton + Steel sparkle canvas (purchased at  Miss Matatabi).

For the lining I used a scrap from the very first thing I made for my kids, back -  a red baby wale corduroy coat that you can see here (yes, the first piece of clothing I made for my kids was a lined coat, I love to live on the edge, ha! And how curly was her hair when she was little? gah!) - while testing for See Kate Sew (my very first pattern testing!).

This pattern offers two size options and styles: clutch or purse. You can make it with a purse strap or with a stylish clutch wrist strap. I have opted for a summery clutch since it was Summer and I needed a cool stylish clutch to wear in a relaxed night out.

There are also three different closure options: interior snaps, a snap tab and a zipper closure.

So many possibilities! I have another one cut and ready to be sewn. It will be a (faux) leather and Liberty purse! It is meant to be a Christmas present but I am not sure I will be able to send it away... :)

And just in case you're wondering, the Fairport was modeled by my girl last Summer when we also photo shooted the Henry dress (pattern by Brooklyn Patterns co.) that was blogged last July here
